Outline:

Welcome to the Control Systems! The main reference for this course is Finite Dimensional Linear Systems, by Roger Brockett.

The main object of study in this course is linear time-varying control systems. At times, however, we state more general results about nonlinear time-varying control system. After proving a version of the Banach fixed point theorem, under mild conditions, we establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions for time-varying nonlinear control system using a version of the Picard-Lindelöf theorem. We specialize our results to linear time-varying systems and study the evolutions of their solutions using the properties of the transition matrices. We then study in details the fundamental problems of Controllability, Observability, Realization, and Feedback Stabilization. We move on to some selected topics from Optimal Control, in particular, the least square problem and the free-end point problem, and finish the course by learning about Dynamic Programming.
