Mathematical Modeling & Dynamics with Delay

Queen's University, Kingston, ON, Canada (June 10-12, 2026)

In honour of the 60th birthday of Tony Humphries

About

Delay differential equations (DDEs) naturally arise in many biological, physical and engineering phenomena. Ignoring time delays can fundamentally change the dynamics of the mathematical model of the system. Furthermore, DDEs are an important and intuitive framework upon which theory on infinite-dimensional systems can be tested and understood – forming a bridge between finite-dimensional theory of ordinary differential equations and the field of partial differential equations.

This workshop aims to bring together researchers working on the theory, computation, and applications of delay equations and related systems. The goal is to exchange ideas, present recent advances, and explore emerging directions. The workshop is being held in honour of the 60th birthday of Professor Tony Humphries (McGill University) who has played a central role in the field of DDEs. His leadership has also extended to the support and mentorship of many early-career researchers.

This workshop is funded by the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (Dynamical Systems Activity Group), Centre de recherches mathematiques (Laboratoire Mathématiques appliquées) and the Society for Mathematical Biology.
