The course grade will be computed as follows:
  • 40% Quizzes
  • 60% Exam
Exam:
The final exam is on Saturday, 15 December 2012, from 14:00 to 17:00, in BART/BEWS Gym (enter PEC). It will cover the entire course.
Quizzes:
The 6 quizzes will be held at the following times:

  2. Friday, 05 October 2012, from 08:45 to 09:15,
  3. Friday, 19 October 2012, from 08:45 to 09:15,
  4. Friday, 02 November 2012, from 08:45 to 09:15,
  5. Friday, 16 November 2012, from 08:45 to 09:15,
  6. Friday, 30 November 2012, from 08:45 to 09:15.
Your best fives scores will determine your quiz grade. There will be no makeup quizzes. If you miss more than one quiz because of exceptional circumstances (i.e. ones that are beyond your control, could not have been foreseen, and can be satisfactorily documented), then special arrangements may be made. Graded quizzes can be picked up in the MTHE225 boxes outside of 201 Jeffery Hall.
Homework:
Doing the assigned exercises is vitally important — to learn mathematics, one must solve problems. Nevertheless, homework will not be collected or graded. Exercises are posted in PDF on the lectures webpage. Your browser can be trained to open these files with the free program Acrobat Reader (or other PDF viewer). Solutions will also be available on the lectures webpage.
Calculators:
Only the Casio 991 model calculator (or one with a gold or blue sticker) may be used during the quizzes and exam.
