We suggest that you book your travel and accommodations from August 9-12 so that you can attend all of the events we have planned for the workshop.

Kingston airport (YGK) has flights from Toronto and Montreal. Kingston can also be reached via ground transportation from many bigger cities, and this is usually the more economical and reliable option for travel. Please check out Visit Kingston and our list below for suggestions.

By train (from Pearson airport): The Union Pearson (UP) Express train travels regularly from Toronto's Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto. The line ends at Union Station in downtown Toronto where you'll need to follow signs to the Via Rail trains. Instructions on taking the train from downtown Toronto to Kingston is given below.

By bus (from Pearson airport): There is a direct bus service, operated by Megabus, from Pearson airport to Kingston and Queen's that takes around 4 hours. Tickets can be purchased online.

By train (from Billy Bishop airport): From Billy Bishop airport (on Toronto Island) you can either walk or take a free ferry ride to get to the mainland terminal. From there you can take a free shuttle to Toronto Union station. See below for instructions on how to take the train from Toronto Union Station to Kingston.

By bus (from Billy Bishop airport): From Billy Bishop airport (on Toronto Island) you can either walk or take a free ferry ride to get to the mainland terminal. From there there are many public transit options to reach the Toronto Coach Terminal. See below for instructions on how to take the bus from Toronto Coach Terminal to Kingston.

By train (from downtown Toronto): From Union Station you can take a Via Rail train to Kingston train station. Then you can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus from the Kingston train station to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By bus (from downtown Toronto): From the Toronto Coach Terminal you can take a bus operated by Megabus to Kingston. From the Kingston Bus Terminal you can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By car: Toronto is about 3 hours away from Kingston by car.

By air: You can fly directly from Toronto's Billy Bishop airport to Kingston using FLYGTA. Travel from the Kingston Airport to Queen's or downtown Kingston will require a taxi. Taxis are generally available after all flight arrivals.

By train (from Trudeau airport): From Trudeau airport you can take a free shuttle to Dorval Train Station where you can take a Via Rail train to Kingston. You can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus from Kingston train station to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By train (from downtown Montreal): From the Montreal Train Station you can take a Via Rail train to Kingston. You can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus from the train station to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By bus (from downtown Montreal): From downtown Montreal you can take a bus operated by Megabus from 997 St-Antoine Ouest (Metro Bonaventure) to the Kingston Bus Terminal. From there you can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By car: Montreal is about 3 hours away from Kingston by car.

By air: You can fly directly from Montreal's Trudeau airport to Kingston using Pascan Aviation. Travel from the Kingston Airport to Queen's or downtown Kingston will require a taxi. Taxis are generally available after all flight arrivals.

By train/bus (from Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier airport): From the airport you can take a 20-minute taxi ride or OC Transpo buses to downtown Ottawa. See below for instructions on how to take a train or bus from downtown Ottawa to Kingston.

By train (from downtown Ottawa): From the Ottawa Train Station and you can take a Via Rail train to Kingston. Then you can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus from the train station to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By bus (from downtown Ottawa): From the Ottawa St Laurent Station you can take a bus operated by Megabus to Kingston. From the Kingston Bus Terminal you can take a taxi or a Kingston Transit bus to Queen's and downtown Kingston.

By car: Ottawa is about 2 hours away from Kingston by car.

By shuttle or taxi: Private shuttle services are sometimes available from Syracuse and Watertown airports to Kingston. Please refer to the Visit Kingston website for more information.

By car: Syracuse is about 2 hours away and Watertown is about 1.5 hours away from Kingston by car. Rental cars are available at both airports.

  • Via Rail and Megabus tickets are usually cheaper if they are bought ahead of time.
  • Via Rail tickets can also be cheaper if bought in advance on a Tuesday (you do not have to travel on a Tuesday).
